URSULA
Ursula is a board member of Port Community Arts Centre (PCAC) and assists with Member Exhibitions. She has always been interested in art, winning awards throughout her schooling but after training at the SA School of Art her family/career responsibilities prevented her from becoming a fully professional artist. She is proud of having received a School of Arts award equivalent to a scholarship and having her abilities mentioned in a major newspaper. Now that she is semi retired she is renewing her interest in the arts and says that she likes experimenting and working in a variety of different mediums. Ursula has won merit awards at PCAC member exhibitions, the most recent being at “Celtica” 2011 for her life drawing entry. She enjoys painting floral and botanical works but also likes doing traditional, semi-abstract, portraits, life drawing and still life. Ursula says that she has been, and continues to be, inspired by many artists past and present, which has made her even more keen to work in a variety of styles and mediums. She feels that you can never stop learning and in the future she wants to “immerse myself as a practising artist, be with like minded people and ultimately earn enough money to further my continued development in self expression.”
DIANNA
Dianna is an Adelaide based textile artist who regularly takes out First Prizes for her work at the Royal Adelaide Show. Dianna says about herself: "I love all things textile and surface design. I learnt to sew on my mother's old Singer treadle sewing machine and have been sewing ever since in one form or another. Whether it be clothing, quilting or more recently, textile art. I also love to travel (when I can afford it) and have an interest in photography and art.
The last few years I have been studying both textiles and art. Sadly, I discovered that painting and drawing is not my strong suit, but found a new found appreciation for the different mediums and those that practice them. Smocking and Embroidery is another thing I like to do."
