HEATHER
Heather is an South Australian born artist who was studying towards a Bachelor of Art in Fine Art, prior to moving to Canberra. Whilst her university studies are temporarily on hold, Heather is still continuing to paint in watercolours and acrylics but is now also doing works in mixed media. After doing some Printmaking at Uni she has now developed a keen interest in printmaking, especially monoprinting, lino printing and collagraphs, and also collage. Before moving to Canberra she studied watercolour painting with one of Australia's premier maritime artists, John Ford and is currently studing mixed media techniques with artist Val Fitzpatrick. Her other artistic activities have included pottery which has been an interest for many years and she studied pottery with painter and potter Anthony Milliwik. Silver-smithing lessons with the late John Hale left her with an ongoing interest in silver ornaments and jewellery. She also collects gems and minerals and makes and sells tie dyed and monoprinted clothing items under the label Dinamik TiDi. Heather was one of the first two female students "permitted" to do photography at high school in South Australia where it was a "boys only" subject, and she has maintained an ongoing interest in photography ever since. Heather served as board member of the Port Community Arts Centre and in 2011 became editor of their PCAC Newsletter. She is a member of Artists Society of Canberra and the Queanbeyan Art Society and lives with her partner in Symonston, ACT, along with an elderly psycho galah named Archie.. Heather has recently formed the Canberra Art Cards group with the aim of selling original art cards online and at various Canberra locations.

IAN
Ian is an artist whose preferred medium is oils, although he does produce a number of works in other mediums, particularly acrylics. Ian has been drawing for as long as he can remember, initially preferring to do detailed and skillful cartoon drawings. Later he took up sketching in a more serious fashion before progressing to painting. Pelicans are one of his favourite nature subjects and he also creates paintings featuring the interesting coastlines along South Australia's rugged and picturesque Limestone Coast. Although his art tends towards more traditional themes, he does sell the occasional abstract work. When time permits Ian also does occasional commissioned work, generally portraits. He has had his own solo exhibitions and in the past has exhibited and sold a number of his works in a variety of locations throughout Adelaide, Mount Gambier, South Eastern South Australia and the ACT, where he now resides and is kept very busy seeing to the needs of his extended family.
